When my family made the five-hour drive to visit Grandma and Grandpa Kliewer two or three times a year, I always looked forward to seeing my cousin Kraston and his sisters as they were the only kids in town, or so it seemed. I loved sleeping over at their house, and we certainly tested Kathy’s patience. During one sleepover, I vividly recall that Kraston “missed” the trashcan with his bubblegum, and it wound up in my hair. Poor Kathy worked forever to get it out to avoid cutting my hair (thank you, Kathy, do you remember that?). Our visits to Oklahoma slowed after the passing of our grandparents, but social media has kept us in touch. From afar, I’ve enjoyed watching Kraston’s family grow. There are two things, in particular, I will always remember about Kraston: 1) his sisters adored him, and 2) he had a grin that could light up a room.
I should say, the photograph above includes a very proud big sister (Karnesa, at right) holding her sweet little brother Kraston.
Yes, it is a sweet picture.
We did adore him very much! He was the very best!
